What is up, my friends?
Thanks for stopping by the ol’ blog. Wanted to fill you in on a few recent updates and just say hello. Hi.
My new album Seafoam is underway and I’m super excited! Just started tracking last week and it’s sounding pretty boss so far. Lots to do still but we’re chipping away. Look for that in the next few months.
Look for a music video for the first single in the coming weeks. More to come on that too.
Stuff I love right now:
Coldplay, Ghost Stories: These guys can’t seem to create bad music. Their new record is beautiful and inspiring. Don’t over think it.
Cackalacky beer by Fullsteam Brewery: Delicious, refreshing ginger beer and IPA lovechild. I crave it (http://www.fullsteam.ag/)
Cheerwine: Maybe it’s my NC roots. This stuff is so tasty in the summer. I wish it fixed cavities.
House of Cards: I’m probably late to the party but, man, this thing instantly hooked me. Very well-made, heady drama on Netflix. Great acting and characters. It’s kinda like a political “Mad Men” set in modern times.
Keep your eyes open for new music! I’ll letcha know

Hope all is well in your world! This blog has been hibernating over the fall and winter months so, since spring has sprung, I figured I’d bust out a new post like a hungry grizzly bear busts out of his den. Yeah.
Listening Room @ Mercury Studio – Friday, March 28, 2014 – $5
The good people at Mercury Studios invited me to come perform some of my tunes in an intimate setting and then have a time of Q&A afterwards. How could I say no to that? They do this every month or so for an event they call Listening Room, with different songwriters, artists, and bands in the RDU area. It’s a very unique and cool opportunity for a songwriter to ‘pull back the curtain’, if you will, and discuss the meaning behind their songs, if any. Thomas Nickles will be getting the night started with a set of his tunes. I’m actually splitting my set with Claybrook, who will be accompanying me on keys and also performing some of his originals. I’ve worked out some pretty different stripped down versions of my songs so you’ll want to be there. BYOB, Doors @ 6:30, Show @ 7. See you there!
**New music coming soon**
I’m very excited about some of the new tunes that I’m working on these days. My next recording project is going to be a full length album called Seafoam. You can expect that summer/fall of this year. I’m also working on a side-project of bluesy/acoustic/folky love songs called Cowardly Lion <— please follow!
Anywho, lots and lots of music coming your way soon. Can’t wait! Stay tuned.
Stuff that I love right now
March Madness: I’m sorry, I get totally infected by these games every year like a virus and I can’t get enough. The app on iPhone makes it especially easy to watch/hard to look away.
Wilco: I know they’ve been around forever but Tweedy is such a good writer. Spotify makes it easy to listen to anything you want to whenever you want to so I’ve been bingeing on them lately.
Nachos: Yep. I eat them all the time.
Thanks for supporting me by reading this, coming to shows, buying my tunes, and every other way under the sun.

I absolutely love the fall. I hope you’re getting to enjoy not running your AC, eating pumpkin-y things, and raking leaves.
I wanna give some shout-outs to stuff that I like right now, including fellow NC artist Claybrook‘s new EP was just released on Friday night at Straw Valley Cafe in Durham. I had the pleasure of opening the night with a set and it couldn’t of been a better night for outdoor music. Good times for sure. Hoping to have some more shows with Claybrook in the near future.
Anywho, there are already physical copies of the EP floating around but it drops tomorrow (10.1.13) on iTunes so be sure to snatch it up and support one of the most authentic people I know. REALLY well-crafted songs. Top-notch production. I know you’ll love it.
Other stuff I love right now:
Night Beds – Country Sleep
Anything by Aural Method
Anything by Tycho
Queens Of The Stone Age – ….Like Clockwork
John Mayer – Paradise Valley
Kings of Leon - Supersoaker
iTunes Festival app on iOS7 – stream entire performances from the London festival. Next best thing to being there.
Buffalo Chicken Pizza from Walmart – yep
The Carolina Panther’s one game winning streak
Okay! Thanks for stopping by. Until next time, I’m busy working on the next batch of songs for my next project, which I’m hoping will come together by spring of 2014.

It’s been a hot minute since my last post so I figured I should dust off the ol’ blog and give it a go.
First item, I have a show this Saturday (5.4.13) in Mebane, NC! This will be my first performance in Mebane ever. It’s an acoustic show but plan to come hungry/thirsty because Karma On Third will be happy to serve you tasty food and bev. Two different sets from 7-9 pm. I’m planning to debut some interesting covers so make it a plan to be there Hope to see you! Free!
Secondly, I’m in the process of integrating a little store right into my site so, before long, you’ll be able to buy a t-shirt or a CD, or whatever, right from davidbdollar.com. Pretty fancy smancy if you ask me. Stay tuned for that.
Thirdly, please purchase my debut EP, Benefit of The Doubt, if you haven’t already. It’s available everywhere – iTunes, Amazon, CD Baby, Bandcamp. You name it. Show me some love!

Do you like to drink water? I know I do. Especially when I’m thirsty. It’s easy, however, to take this necessity of life for granted. There are a billion people in the world who don’t have access to clean, safe drinking water. Charity:Water is an organization who has set out to do everything in their power to end this horrible reality. Click here to learn more about what they do.
With every physical copy of my new EP sold, I will be donating $1 to Charity: Water. “That isn’t very much.”, you say. Well, it only takes a measly $20 to provide one person with clean, safe drinking water. That’s like, nothin’. Plus, it seemed fitting with my last name being ‘Dollar’. My EP release party is just ONE week from tonight at Casbah in downtown Durham, NC. Everyone who pays to get in will receive a copy of Benefit Of The Doubt (my EP) AND, in turn, will be helping to fund the work of this amazing organization. I will also have a laptop setup if you want to give more than just a dollar. Doors are at 7, show at 8. Two amazing openers – Gentle Robot and claybrook. Door prizes, silliness, and more. You should probably be there.

I can’t tell you how excited I am to be getting a new axe in the next few months. No, not the kind you get at Home Depot to chop down a cherry tree (nerdy President’s Day reference – Feb. 18 ). I’m talking about the axe that you shred while plugged into an amp. This isn’t just any normal axe either. It’s a special specialty. Back in early December, I took a little drive down to Hiddenite, NC to meet Andy Elliott, owner of Elliott Guitars. Had a great time getting to know Andy, as well as playing some of his world class instruments. He talked about guys like Drew Shirley (Switchfoot), Matt Podesla (Matt Redman, Chris Tomlin) and even showed me a red sparkly body he was working on for Grant Mickelson for Taylor Swift’s “Red” tour. I ended up commissioning Andy to build me one of his Custom Tone Masters. As you can see, it’s a work of art, and trust me, it sounds as amazing as it looks. This is the same color I’m getting as well. Surf green. Not exactly sure the timeline but I’ll probably be posting lots of videos of this thing when I get it. Stay tuned!
Also, for you love birds out there, Valentine’s Day is coming up! If you’re looking for a place to take your sweetheart, do drop in to Deep South: The Bar around 9pm for their V-Day party! Excited to play my first show of 2013. Check the deets! Hope to see you!
It’s been a fun 3 weeks since I released Benefit of The Doubt, my debut EP. If you’re lookin’ for a place to buy it, see below for a list of online vendors. Just click the link and you’ll be wisked away to an online store.
The physical CD will be released late February so keep your eyes open for that!
I had a lot of help putting this little project together and today I want to highlight someone in particular. David Stanfield is a lifetime friend of mine and an unbelievably talented person – art, music, video, sports; you name it. He’s also quite handsome. Yep. He was my first choice to create a cover piece for this EP and, in my humble opinion, he hit a grand slam. He took an old photo I snapped in Holland and ran with it, adding beautiful design elements and his signature hand drawn style. So many folks have commented on how much they like it. If you’re interested in learning more about him and his art, please visit his page here —> davidstanfieldis.me. Buy something in the store and support an amazing person! David lives in Charlotte, NC with his wife and 2 babies.
Enjoy your weekend! Be intentional about getting some rest.

Hello all! I hope 2013 has been a blast so far. It’s gonna be a great year!
As you hopefully know by now, I released my debut EP a little over a week ago; it’s been a great week! If you haven’t purchased it yet but would like to, you can search for David B. Dollar on iTunes or head over to davidbdollar.bandcamp.com and download it there. There is also a player on this site to stream the music as much as you’d like!
I am from and live in Durham, NC and one of the coolest things about my new EP is that I got to produce and record it right here in the Bull City. Sound Pure Studios is an absolutely amazing facility and I was blown away to be able to spend two days there making a record. I felt a little out of my league to be honest. Jason Richmond was the engineer and we had a grand ol’ time capturing the sounds. I could blab on but you should just check it out for yourself here —> http://soundpurestudios.com/ Truly a world class studio right in downtown Durham! If you’re an artist or in a band, you should seriously consider Sound Pure for your next project.
